What's new for 2012...

by Chris "Big Papa" Thayer on 01/28/12

We are heading into 2012 with new energy and new direction. First off, we have added two new faces to the lineup: Mark "Fergie" Ferguson (of Jazz Junkies fame) on keyboards and Marques Crews (of the Debonaires) on trumpet. We are really happy with how the band is sounding and we are all anxious to get back in the studio to start working on the new CD. We are going to get "back to basics" on the next disc with a new set of jump blues and swing tunes.

We are also looking forward to the next episode of our live music web show, INLAND BLUE SESSIONS. The plan is to have one every month, or at least every other month. In addition, planning is under way for the 2012 Inland Empire Blues and Roots Festival.

THE CALM AFTER THE STORM.

by Chris "Big Papa" Thayer on 10/02/11

The last of the big shows on the list is now in the history books. It's been a pretty crazy couple of months, and we all feel really accomplished. We through our own festival, played the Route 66 Rendezvous, and just did our show with BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY. And the band just keeps getting tighter and tighter.

I'm even starting to write new material which will feature our horn players, Maurice Oliva and Chuck Simpson.

Huge thanks to them and to John Mila de la Roca for coming in and doing a killer job. I have heard from tons of people, old and new, that this is the best the band has ever sounded. They love the new material, too, which really makes me happy.

I look forward to doing bigger and better things. Onward and upwards.

Lastly, huge thanks to everyone who helped out with the IEBF. It was a total success. We couldn't have done it without you. And special thanks to Kelly McGuire for his guidance and friendship. I've learned so much.

INLAND EMPIRE BLUES AND ROOTS FESTIVAL IS LESS THAN ONE WEEK AWAY!

The countdown has begun. We are putting the finishing touches on the fest- getting t-shirts printed, dash plaques for the cars, banners, etc. We are still looking for volunteers for the day of the event. We need still need people to help with the tear down after the show. With a few of us, it should go pretty quickly. E-mail bp@bptcb.com if you are interested.
